TROY'S STORY:
Sorry it's so long...hope you enjoy it though. First, alot of people were taking pics, please share them if you have any. I know I would want any of me I can get my hands on and so will the others!!! The most AMAZING experience I have had EVER!!!! He's a very humble, giving man and I felt bad for bothering him but I just wanted to be near my idol, thank him, and bask in his presence.
The time leading up to meeting him was a blur but here's what I remember. By the time he came out about 30 people had gathered and we were all kinda hanging around the bus for about 20 minutes. Then they moved it after Daryl came down to assess the situation and the crowd. Several people left at that time thinking the opportunity was gone, but for the patient, it paid off BIGTIME! The bus moved to the lower parking entrance and there was about 30 feet between the doors and the buses. There was a great guy and his wife, Mark and Stacy, there who were working as a team, one inside watching for the elevator to go to his floor, and one waiting downstairs. I think Mark even got to ride down on the elevator with Dave--lucky guy. They knew the deal and kept us posted on when he was leaving.
Anyway, the elevators open and out stepped Daryl and Dave. We all were beside ourselves. It gets blurry here but after pics with the NY girls, Dave made his way to where I was standing, shook someone else's hand and then it was my turn--shook his hand, guess all the guitar playing paid off because he has strong ass hands. I asked for a pic and he said "of course." I thanked him, put my arm around his shoulder and smiled...camera's were going off everywhere. Being the idiot I am, I had my camera in my pocket as I was just kinda out of it. Thank God, Anthony and his friend, Steve, were there, as they are the only ones who got decent photos of me and Dave. As soon as I let go, he moved on but I was shaking and high on life and adrenaline. I just couldn't believe it. I move to the back and started snapping photos but as Dave got close to me, I got greedy (sorry couldn't help it, didn't know it would happen again) and I asked for an autograph. He gladly signed my Rolling Stone cover from when Some Devil came put.
It was the best day ever--there were 30 elated people walking aroung for several minutes after the meeting...high fives, hugs, kisses, smiles, and alot of people who were shaking and thankful for the brief moment they shared with Dave. BEST DAY EVER! THANK YOU DAVE MATTHEWS for your patience and generosity towards your fans--we do realize you don't have to be this way and this is yet another reason we ALL love you!
