Jeff's story:  (6/24/01)

I'll try to pull it all out for a good review for you guys... anyway, courtney gets to my house about 5:30, and we head off to the show about 15 minutes later. We plan to get there at about 6:30 or so and visit our friend, security guard #322. Well, today was the puerto rican day parade, so, it takes us until 7:45 until we finally get parked and all. Then we dont' get into the e-centre until 8:05. Late. Well, we discussed our plan in the car, even though it's wrong, we decided that courtney and i had to get up front. My mom and my sister stole/took my warehouse second row seats, courtney's seat, which she bought last night from tm online and picked up at will call today (no problems thankfully) was in section 100, mine was in 201. So, our plan was to meet with my sister as soon as the lights go down, then stub us both up into the pit. It all works fine, and all we miss is the band walking onstage and the very beginning of what would you say. 

Ants - As fitchy said, they totally teased us with that shot of the moon thinking we'd get pig... Ants was great though, boyd and leroi both went off totally. And at the very end of ants dave walks up right in front of us and waves to my sister and then looks at court and waves to her. The guy behind us goes to courtney and says "he was looking right at you you know", and well, i'm not sure if she did this on purpose or if it was unintentional but right after that she fell against me... I think it was sorta intentional, but now that i think more, it might not have been. eh, whatever. but, remember that... 

So, the show ends... we hang around the front for a while, trying to get drumsticks from carter, but don't... then go for setlists, but dont' get them either... we're about to leave, actually are leaving, when we talk to the security guard, 317 i believe, who was there all 3 nights, doing a GREAT job. Having lots of fun, stopping anyone doing anything they shouldn't have, and not being annoying about it. We ask him how we can get backstage, even though he can't help us, we try anyway. He says "if anyone can help you, frank can. Go out there and look for a guy near the telephones with a walkie talkie, he's a nice guy" So, we go and see this frank fella. frank tells us "Sorry, i can't help you, victor should be coming out this door anyminute, he probably can" Victor walks out, we talk to victor, he says that the only guy that can get us backstage to meet the band is the head of security, daryl, who is a big black guy. He tells us to wait by the people with aftershow passes and see if we can get in. Everyone with passes gets in, we don't. We talk to daryl, asking in so many ways how we can get in, and if not, if he can get us passes for the hershey show in advance. He repeatedly declines to let us back. Then courtney says "we've been here all 3 nights, waiting for the band during the day out by the entrance, pleeease" so, he thinks and says "you should have three different ticket stubs then" and courtney goes into her wallet, and pulls out ALL THREE TICKET STUBS!! I had 2 of mine with me, but not all three. he asks courtney then if we're with her (my mom, laura and me) and she says that we are, since well, we did take her there and all... 

So, we run backstage into the room where they take us all, the room where we saw the band eating in yesterday before the show. (just think court, maybe you were sitting in the same chair as stefan). We go into this room, sit down, and wait... We wait for someone to come in from the band. Daryl tells us that pictures are more than welcomed and that he wants peopel to take pictures and get autographs, but no cell phones. So, after we wait, and shake for 5 minutes or so, Boyd walks in. Boyd is great. He has this attitude towards him... He gives off the impression that he genuinely LOVES going backstage talking to fans, talking about the band, and whatever else. Not that dave didn't, but, boyd just seemed to give it something extra special... Boyd comes to us, signs courtney's foxboro setlist and my warehouse envolope. (i wasnt planning on anything, it was the best i had) I ask him if he saw the pig signs from the first night, and said that matt and i made them, and asked if he had a problem with it. He said that they've been noticing all the pig stuff lately and they get the message. He didn't give any specific reasons about why they aren't playing it anymore, but said that they'll work it in sometime. I also commented on boyd's pants (they are the coolest things) and his playing tonight. One thing i didn't realize before, boyd is TALL. Huge man... So genuinely kind though it seems... 

Then daryl comes back, asking us all to take a seat at a table... Then... Dave walks in. As soon as dave walks in he points right to courtney and says "hey it's my front row friend", which we don't thinkanything of until a minute later when we realize that he waved to her during ants when she was in the front row... Dave goes around the tables, comes to ours... I ask him about the pig signs as well, he says that he sees them, and that when he sees 400 signs when walking out onstage he feels reluctant to play it, and he gets adament about playing it. So, guess if we want to hear it, we should stop the barrage. He did seem to have some hope in saying that it isn't forgotten and that they'll work it in sometime. I asked for hershey. Dave signs the other side of my warehouse envolope, and my sister's shirt. He's about to sign the back of it and tells her to "bend over." then says "if anyone ever tells you to bend over so they can sign their shirt, laura, dont' believe them!" We talk some more to him, courtney asks if stefan got the lizard that she threw onstage for him last night. dave says that stefan got it and put it on his amp, and that they were all joking about it the other night. Then he says some more about how he noticed courtney all night because of her colorful lei she was wearing on her head. She asks about whether or not stefan is coming to the backstage thing, dave said that he already left... We get our picture taken with dave (only had 1 left, wish we had more), and then dave says how "i was looking at you all night courtney, i thought that i had something with you, until i found out that you liked STEFAAAN" I remind dave that he's married and he says that so is stefan... 

One thing that we forgot... WE FORGOT TO ASK DAVE FOR HIS LEFT SHOE!!! This was the one thing that you said you were going to ask, and we forgot!!!!!! oh well, next time, right? well, i know that there is lots that i'm forgetting, courtney, tell me what i'm missing. it's now 4AM, i really should get to bed. Anyway, i'm still pretty shocked about being able to meet dave and boyd... courtney, thanks so much more for getting us there.
