Okay... So I'm from Yorktown, New York, and as you may already know, Dave went to school in Yorktown, New York for a brief period of time. (One of the teachers he had in Yorktown, Ms. Friedman, still teaches and is now a highschool teacher).
Well I saw Dave twice at Giants and once in Camden, NJ this summer so far, and I haven't met him yet... so I KNEW I had to meet him in Montreal on 8/8/01.
Well, me and my friend left at 6 in the morning on August 8th and got to Montreal around 1. We waited around the VIP parking area from 1 until about 3:45, when like 10 busses started pulling in. Then came Dave's black bus. Into the VIP parking he went... and we tried to follow.. there were only four of us, but they wouldn't let us through! I was so mad and as the garage door was closing we saw Dave come out and we were screaming to him. The door continued to close and as it was we were bending down and screaming Dave was bending down and waving so he could see us... it was funny because he was like crouching. Then, when we thought all was lost we ran to where the stairs went from the VIP parking to the stage and I got to meet Dave! I told him that I am Danielle and I am from Yorktown and he was like "Hi Danielle, I'm from Yorktown too" and I said "I know.. Mrs. Friedman misses you in class!" and he goes "Oh my god. She's still teaching there? I miss her and send her my love and tell her I'm going to come back and visit!".... and then we talked for a few more minutes and he signed some stuff, it was only me, my friend and like three other people.
Right before he left... this is the best part... I was like.. "Dave wait I have something for you.." and I gave him my Yorktown football shirt and he was like "awesome... thanks Danielle..." IT WAS THE BEST EVER! I can't believe I finally met him! I can't believe Dave Matthews has the very shirt that I've worn so many times!!! What they say is true... if you want to meet Dave enough... theres always a way to do it, because he is such a nice guy he always goes out of his way for his fans!
